The Banner Saga Trilogy is an original world and story created by Stoic Studio and Versus Evil that borrows heavily from Norse mythology, lore, storytelling, and setting. It features Viking men, wild centaurs, giant ox men, dark stone people from the depths, and a wide number of mythical stories, creatures, and themes. The Banner Saga 3 was successfully funded through Kickstarter, and I’m proud to be a Kickstarter backer for this epic and tense trilogy of excellent turn-based role-playing games. I cannot recommend this game any higher – it’s a series of games that any gamer should play through. My favorite aspect is that the entire Banner Saga series draws the power away from the player to put them in a story where they are surviving, not mastering, the story. This theme of powerlessness is clear and present in The Banner Saga 3; a refreshing alternative to always being the superhero or master chief.
