The elm in Piana Romana - Audioguide

Piana Romana is a rural zone, full of memories, linked to the life and love of Padre Pio for the Lord and supreme example of his feelings. It is a place for worship, a little bit of heaven, a green lung where the soul breathes God’s purity, speaks to Him and listens to the voice in the silence of the surrounding nature: coming back home will have a new flavor, that of quiet and joy, a spiritual enrichment, of full inner happiness. There is a small wood in the farmhouse, melted in the colours of that rocky nature, where the tree branches are God’s arms, opening in an upward movement, beyond distance and depth. Young shepherd Francis used to come here to find relief and to ‘fight’ against the demon. When the temperature was too high, Padre Pio used to protect himself under the shadow of an elm tree-house, silent witness of the first signs of passion of the saint.
