Some big stars and familiar faces made it into The Force Awakens and we’re revealing them right now on Clevver Newsfeed! Think you know every actor who stars in The Force Awakens? Guess again! Before we get started, just a word of warning that there will be some The Force Awakens spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution if you haven’t seen it yet. Okay, so we’ve known for some time that Simon Pegg makes a cameo as an alien in the film, but it turns out he’s not the only big star making a surprise appearance. It has long been rumored that James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, would be playing a Stormtrooper in the film, but when asked during press for Spectre, Craig vehemently denied it. Well, it looks like Craig is a big, lean, muscular liar! Multiple sources close to the film have revealed to Entertainment Weekly that not only does he in fact play a Stormtrooper in the film, but he appears in one of the movie’s most memorable scenes. The scene in particular takes place with Daisy Ridley’s “Rey” strapped to a torture device on the First Order’s Starkiller Base. She attempts a Jedi mind trick on the Stormtrooper guarding her and it’s not an ordinary Stormtrooper, but one with a license to kill! Turns out though, that’s not the only big cameo in the film. In an interview with EW, director J.J. Abrams revealed that some previous Star Wars actors returned for another scene involving Rey. When she discovers Luke’s lost lightsaber, Rey is bombarded with a barrage of images including Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 beside a fire, Kylo and his fellow Knights of Ren among a number of dead bodies and herself as a child. Along with the images we hear the voices of none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. While some of the voices heard were taken from audio from the previous films, Abrams revealed that both Ewan McGregor and Frank Oz returned to voice new dialogue for their iconic characters. He explained quote, “The idea of the voices was, we wanted the audience to feel - but not necessarily be presented right in your face – this idea that familiar, Force-strong voices were connecting with her. At least as well as they could.” For Obi-Wan’s part, he can be heard at the end saying, “Rey…these are your first steps.” While a big part of that is McGregor’s voice, the actual “Rey” part is original Obi-Wan, Alex Guinness. The editors managed to take a line from the previous films of him saying “afraid” and alter it. For those of you wondering what exactly Rey’s dream sequence means, Abrams explained that they wanted to leave that for future films explaining that the first Star Wars threw audiences directly into the world and while clues were left, it didn’t explain things like Darth Vader being Luke’s father and Leia being Luke’s sister. Abrams felt that revealing Kylo Ren’s origin was enough for one film. So, how many of you out there caught Obi-Wan and Yoda’s voices in the film and what do you think of Daniel Craig’s cameo? Head down to the comments and tell us what you think and then click here to find out a few other actors you may not have known were in Star Wars.
