Watch the gender reveal video here: https://youtu.be/9-btkBLQEU8 (Alena) Since I've given birth to 5 children, I thought I knew all I’d ever know about birthing. However, this time was so different. Our baby came into this world in under 2 hours from the first birthing wave to the time the baby was born. This wonderful phenomenon is known as a precipitous birth, or rapid birth. It happens in just 3% of births and may be contributed to a "well-aligned pelvis, pubic bone, and birth canal" as well as a "particularly efficient uterus which contracts with great strength”. In hypnobabies you are taught not to fight uterine pressure waves but to simply relax, welcome and encourage them. I did this by saying "open, open, open”, “come on baby”, and visualizing the uterine pressure waves were like a deep massage that Joe was giving me. Because the birth progressed so fast I didn’t have the time to wrap my head around what was happening or to prepare for the next stage or to fall as deep into hypnosis as I would have liked. It almost felt like I missed the birth altogether! But wow am I happy to experience a new birth and a new beginning!
