First Naturalized Korean Assemblywoman Jasmine Leeof the Saenuri Party In 2012, Jasmine Lee of the ruling Saenuri Party was elected a proportional representative in the 19th National Assembly. She made history by becoming the first naturalized Korean citizen to become a lawmaker in the assembly, and she works diligently to implement bills related to supporting multiculturalism in the country. She often heard harsh criticisms for being the first naturalized citizen to become a lawmaker, but she persevered and, for two consecutive years, was selected model Assemblywoman for outstanding work during the government audit. She became a public figure when she appeared in movies - [Secret Reunion] and [Punch], and used her influence working as a civil activist, taking part in a program that aimed to make a migrant woman a local council person, which opened door to her political career. Jasmine Lee was born in the Philippines, moved to Korea in 1995 when she married a Korean man, and decided to become a naturalized Korean citizen. She is also a proud mother of two children. In 2010, an unfortunate accident takes away her husband's life, and she decides to improve conception of multiculturalism in Korea for her children's future.
