The Nine Realms

Download the Map here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/hi7yh6tdudf0x6u/Yggdrasil.zip?dl=0 The Nine Realms is a large, global combined arts project inspired by the nine realms of Norse mythology and the Icelandic Poetic and Prose Eddas. Supported with public funding by Arts Council England and Norfolk County Council. It showcases 45 poets, artists and musicians from all around the UK and the globe who have worked together online for 9 months through the ArtiPeeps website. The material created from this online project has been turned into a 5 day 'Experience' in Norfolk. Through direct, participatory engagement with new poetry, new art, commissioned realm music, comic strip and the new inclusion of Minecraft, we hope to celebrate the oral tradition and introduce new audiences (both adults and children) to the richness of the Norse myths and sagas, in an enjoyable and accessible way. The project has created 90+ new poems,19 mixed medium artworks, 9 newly commissioned pieces of music and a Ragnarök comic. Minecraft and Music are the last two elements of a combined arts educational template we hope to use in all our future projects. With this template now in place we are working towards creating a touring programme for both The Nine Realms and Transformations (our 2014 project). Within our educational remit we work in curricular and extracurricular ways with local and national schools. As part of our mid-term plans we intend to create educational packs, which will include comic strips and Minecraft, for schools, bringing our work directly into educational institutions. ----- What drives ArtiPeeps is a belief in creative potential and in the power of the combined arts to transform perceptions and facilitate enjoyment in the arts. Through our projects we hope to: Engage the imagination and senses Promote interaction, participation, collaboration and creativity Move people from ' attendance' to 'active participation' Challenge and shake up perceptions of art and culture which create barriers to engagement ArtiPeeps is a collaborative creativity and well-being website and not for profit organisation, which specialises in large-scale combined arts collaborations which bring epic pieces of literature to new audiences. We also provide an innovative range of online individual showcasing and collaborative opportunities for anyone who wants to create.
