Warning :
The Packard Bell did not receive any update since 3.2 and many users are very disappointed about that , just because the Tablet was very expensive when it came out.
What many don;t know is that the Acer Iconia 500 and this tablet are the very same , thus the update for the Acer works like a charm on this Packard Bell , only little downside is that you will see ACER Logo booting up , so that looks kinda weird for a Packard Bell Tablet , but that is just the boot screen and just some seconds .
What are the benefits?
Many , the 3.2 is very outdated and not supported by Google anymore , so the upgrade to 4.0.3 makes it faster more reliable and cuter to look at and Apps run way better.
In one of my next videos we will go a step ahead , and also root this tablet and see if we then can upgrade to a even higher build , but that is for later,
Now we first gonna enjoy ICS and make sure to get a nice Launcher for the tablet and I still had my paid version of iPEAR OS so that I installed and it looks fantastic , also have a cool windows 8 metro launcher , but I love the iPear even more.
All works fine and This upgrade is only ment for Packard Bell G100 users that are still on Android 3.2
So how to update the Tablet ?
LINK of the UPDATE.ZIP will come online later this day , so don't worry , when you have the file , copy it to a fat 32 partitioned Micro Sd card and pop it in the tablet .
Step 2
Turn Tablet off , press volume up while holding in portret mode
and press Power on while volume button up is pressed.
The Tablet will boot up find the update ZIP and will start the upgrade , that's how simple it is.
Make sure the tablet is kinda fully loaded , just to make sure
and to get all the benefits of this upgrade , I would after the tablet started up , go to settings/privacy and chose System restore , delete all files.
After that is done you will have a brand new tablet with a better build of Android completely free and powered thanks to ACER.
Special Credits to Acer inc., for the support of the Iconia 500 , we hope more will follow.
What works and what not?
Everything works for me for what i could see until now
but if that changes I will update this info , for now it does
everything way better then before , so Yeah I would upgrade as fast as possible.
Good luck and enjoy your Packard bell with Acer brains.
