A little about the songs...
*Time by Hans Zimmer.
Time is the most popular song from the soundtrack for Christopher Nolan's 2010 film Inception. Scored by Hans Zimmer, Inception was his third collaboration with Christopher Nolan (after Batman Begins and The Dark Knight).
A note regarding the guitar part: “At one point, while composing the score, Zimmer incorporated a guitar sound reminiscent of Ennio Morricone and was interested in having Johnny Marr, former guitarist in the influential 80s rock band The Smiths, play these parts. Zimmer's reported inspiration was finding a synthesizer track which he had written similar to Marr's guitar style. Nolan agreed with Zimmer's suggestion, and then Zimmer approached Marr, who accepted his offer. Marr spent four 12-hour days working on the score, playing notes written by Zimmer with a 12-string guitar” (From Wikipedia)
*Time by Pink Floyd
Time is the fourth track from the English prog rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon. The lyrics were written by Roger Waters.
A not about the song's inspiration and meaning: “This song is about how time can slip by, but many people do not realize it until it is too late. Roger Waters got the idea when he realized he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. He has described this realization taking place at ages 28 and 29 in various interviews.” (From Wikipedia again)
The song's opening was used at the end of the trailers for the second series of Life on Mars, and the song has been used in an episode of Cold Case, and an episode of the British TV show Misfits.
It has been covered by Phish, Pretty Lights, Wrathchild America, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Weezer, The Killers, The Flaming Lips, Local H, Easy Star All Stars, Dream Theater, Godsmack, and probably thousands more. I don't think any of those covers sounded like this.
I record, mix and master everything with Ableton Live.
Video was shot on my iPhone and edited in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
LYRICS:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Holding on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
