Tips and Tricks - Editing Geometry & Mesh in Femap

In this video we would like to show you how to edit the geometry within Femap and associate the existing mesh to the edited geometry. We have a geometry meshed in Femap. Let's edit the geometry. In this model we would like to increase the thickness of the flange by 5mm. First we activate the solid by double clicking on the geometry. We go to geometry -- solid -- extrude. We select the surface that needs to be extruded and extrude it up to 5mm. Select the vector direction to be extruded. Now we see that the mesh is not associated to the geometry. We now go to mesh toolbox, and select mesh sizing. Turn on mesh sizing from view style menu. In the mesh size tool box, select 'set to' in the operation menu and give the value of any existing mesh size and select the corresponding curve to update the mesh. In this example I am setting the number of elements to 3 and selecting the corresponding curve. We see that the mesh is updated to match the edited geometry. This helps us to cut short our modelling time instead of re-importing and re-meshing the model from scratch. For more info visit http://www.panso.in or write a mail to [email protected]
