Generally, religions are created to guide the people to a peaceful life but recently in the name religions lots of violence are happening. Tamilnadu BJP released a Safroon Thiruvalluvar and claimed Thirukural as a Hindu text. This creates a stir among the Tamilnadu peoples and politicians. The Tamilnadu BJP also claims that all Tamils are Hindus and there is no other religion for Tamils. But actually, before the Vedic religion (Hinduism), Tamils followed more than 10 different religions, including Asevagam, Buddism, Samanam, etc. There is no literary evidence of Tamils following the Vedic religion in early Tamil life. The oldest text in Tamil divided the Tamil lands into five sections such as Kurinji, mullai, marutham, neithal and palai. Tholkappiar also mentioned the actual lifestyle of people lived in different regions of Tamilnadu. He mentioned their food, village names, jobs, music instruments, animals, birds, trees, flowers and which god they worshiped, etc. Until the Pallava dynasty (300-900 A.D), the Saivam and Vainavam (Vedic religion) are not rooted in Tamilnadu. After the Appar, Manikkavasagar, Thirugnanasambandar, Andal period lots of devotional literature were written and it spread Saivam and Vainavam throughout Tamilnadu. Because of that Bowtham and Samanam started to decline and Samanam followers were killed by ‘Kazhuviletram’.
