Karate Kumite - controlled fighting. Ralph Bates Grading for 2nd Dan takes on three consequtive opponents at the end of a two hour grading session. Kumite is the last one of ten subjects he is marked on and is the end part of a 2 hour tough grading session. For the Kumite he is marked on Control, Spirit, endurance, skill and combinations. His first opponent is Alan Keegan, 2nd opponent is Shelly Robbins and third opponent is Stephen Atkins. Ralph passed his 2nd Dan. April 2009. The club has been established over 30 years.
