Tri County Hay & Straw Auction

Joanna visits with Chris Schalk, Barren County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources to discuss the upcoming Tri County Hay & Straw Auction. Do you have extra hay and need a market? Hay consignments are needed for the Tri-County Hay & Straw Auction. The Tri-County Hay & Straw Auction is held annually at the Metcalfe County Fairgrounds. The auction is a cooperative effort between Metcalfe, Monroe, & Barren Counties Extension Services, and the Metcalfe Co Fair board. Producers bring a representative sample that is weighed and test for nutritional value. A live auction will be held on January 25th @ 10AM at the Metcalfe County fairgrounds. Livestock producers traditionally plan for 150 days of winter feeding. The fall drought of 2019 caused many producers to start feeding hay earlier than usual. Producers can buy at the auction with confidence because they will see that hay, plus have weight and nutritional analysis. For more information contact and follow us on social media.
