Blue Firing – this is one of the two most important factors in understanding quality of good quality blue moonstones. If the stone displays a strong blue firing from within the stone it is a sign of good quality, compared to a rainbow fire in these moonstones. 2. Clarity – the more clear the moonstones the better the stones look, especially those that have a blue fire on the surface. After understanding these two quality factors, we can move onto other factors which explain the pricing structure of moonstones. 1. Size – this is the most important factor in pricing as most clean blue moonstones are found in smaller sizes like 3 mm, 4 mm. Larger sizes like 6 mm and above are more rarer and are not available in larger quantities. 2. Shape – Rounds are most expensive shape in regular shapes of Blue moonstones.
