The University of Doglando is the first facility we know of to use the phrase "enrichment center" rather than "doggy day care". Enrichment is not just having a few decorations in the dog yards; it is an active process, in which we consciously work to achieve higher levels of engagement, activity, and enthusiasm in the dogs.
The AZA and other organizations recognize 5 (or 6) categories of enrichment. The 6 we recognize are:
- EEDs (Environmental Enrichment Devices)
- Habitat Enrichment
- Sensory Enrichment
- Food Enrichment
- Social Groupings
- Behavioral Conditioning
Each day we actively pursue enrichment of our dogs in all these areas. Join our founder, Teena Patel, as she introduces these categories and shows examples of what we do to achieve each type of enrichment every day.
