Valuing Natural Infrastructure: The Nature Conservancy (2010)

At the CGI 2010 Annual Meeting, a topic of focus was market-based approaches and how local markets can be harnessed to protect the environment. The Nature Conservancy and the Inter-American Development Bank made a Commitment to Action (https://www.clintonfoundation.org/clinton-global-initiative/commitments/public-private-fund-mechanisms-watershed-protection) to expand on a model called Water Funds by bringing it to five communities in Latin America. Since then, the partnership has surpassed that goal with great success. This is the story of how communities can protect their water sources and their environment for the benefit of all.
