(9 Feb 2020) VENICE CARNIVAL CONTINUES WITH WATER PARADE The famously known "pantegana", a boat made in the shape of a giant water rat, led the annual Carnival Water Parade in the Italian city of Venice on Sunday (9 FEBRUARY 2020). Thousands of people gathered to see the parade, filling the banks of the canals. However about 100 boats were missing from this year's parade, out of protest. This year the Venice carnival, a public party which lasts for weeks and leads into the Roman Catholic period of Lent, runs from February 8 to March 25.
