After reading a lot of debates on wargame forums about Card Driven Wargames (CDGs or CDWs), their definition, their popularity, their complexity etc. I decided to put my data skills to good use to look into the facts.
Extracting data from Board Game Geek, I looked at 5000 boardgames, their rating, mechanics, year released, number of owners and more to answer some questions like:
- Which year had pick CDG popularity ?
- Are CDGs easier than other Wargames ?
- Are CGGs more popular than other wargames ?
This is a new format in the Wargamology series focused on statistical analysis of historical boardgames. All the analysis and visualization is done using the R language to do all the statistical analysis.
