After reading a lot of debates on wargame forums about Card Driven Wargames (CDGs or CDWs), their definition, their popularity, their complexity etc. I decided to put my data skills to good use to look into the facts. Extracting data from Board Game Geek, I looked at 5000 boardgames, their rating, mechanics, year released, number of owners and more to answer some questions like: - Which year had pick CDG popularity ? - Are CDGs easier than other Wargames ? - Are CGGs more popular than other wargames ? This is a new format in the Wargamology series focused on statistical analysis of historical boardgames. All the analysis and visualization is done using the R language to do all the statistical analysis. For more detail on this analysis, raw data and scripts, join the discussion on BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2201744/card-driven-wargames-statistical-analysis Special thanks: David Dockter Music Credit: Christian Nanzell - Always Raining Philip Glass - Opening (Glassworks) Toupetibeat - Nothing but Notthingham Dj Medhi - Les Princes de la Ville (113) Original BGG thread discussing the evolution of CDWs over the last 30 years: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2194899/26-years-card-driven-war-games-26-cdws-still-evolv
