What's is an HMO?

Our Kind Advisor James talks about HMOs, or Health Maintenance Organizations. HMOs mean you: have to see doctors within your HMO network, otherwise you will have to pay out-of-network expenses (unless it’s an emergency); HMOs are often the most limited type of plans; when you apply for an HMO, you have to select a primary care physician; you have to get a referral from your primary care physician in order to see a specialist.
