Winter Trout Fishing in Connecticut (It's Been TOUGH Out There!)

Trout fishing on Connecticut's streams, both big and small, has been seriously rough for me in Janaury 2020! Despite getting out there a handful of times with both the fly rod and the spinning rod, fish have been elusive and the conditions have been characteristically challenging for this part of the country. In this episode, I'll head to the West Branch of the Farmington River up in Connecticut's Litchfield Hills for what may be my final effort at landing a trout in the waning days of January. Afterwards, I'll bring you back to the house to show you some new gear I'm hoping to use on the channel over the coming year, including an old fly rod from my teenage days that I'm going to be fixing up. And I'll just say it: this is the first episode I've ever released in which I didn't catch a fish. Sad times, indeed. But I figured that some content -even if it's fishless- is more fun than no content.
