Original airdate: 12/25/2018 | You wouldn't guess it, but Cynthia Brailovski is a taxidermist. "My boyfriend used to use a taxidermist and he joked about it the one day that I should learn how to do it myself and I didn't even think twice about it," said Brailovski."They're like 'oh doesn't a guy help you' and I'm like no." But when the pharmaceutical company she worked for closed, she decided to tour a taxidermy school. "I signed papers that day. Wrote a check," said Brailovski. Brailovski represents a growing number of women becoming taxidermists. "It's definitely a male-dominated industry, but it's not like women do it any differently," said Brailovski. "Pretty much the only thing that I airbrush, I'll do epoxy work inside the eyes, inside the nostrils, and a little bit inside the ears. I know quite a few women in this industry and they're all pretty awesome at it." And since her shop is on the same property as her home, she loves the freedom. "I love being my own boss. You know I'm able to do more stuff around the house, do stuff when I need to, spend more time with my daughter," said Brailovski.
