York Seminar: Ulla Gustafsson - Sociology of diagnosis: the route to gender dysphoria

Dr Ulla Gustafsson is a primary lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Roehampton (London). Ulla has carried out research in primary health care and public health (with a string focus on food and nutrition in the latter category) as well as investigating the diagnosis of gender dysphoria. In this presentation Dr Gustafsson explores the nature of the diagnostic process for individuals seeking access to gender reassingment technologies, focusing in particular on the medical framing of gender dysphoria as a disease and how this interacts with the identities of Trans persons.
