The people YTB Travel was trying to entice into joining were told people were making millions of dollars with YTB Travel. The California Attorney General said most people never even earned a dime with YTB Travel. Brown also charges the company with unfair business practices and false advertising practices including deceptive claims that members can earn millions of dollars with the company, operating without filing legally mandated documents with the attorney general and the Department of Corporations and selling an illegal travel discount program. The scam victims say they were misled by YTB Travel. They saw ads with people collecting $10,000 checks and driving expensive cars. The scam victims claim they were told people were making millions of dollars with YTB Travel. A much more lucrative part of the business has been convincing others to open up an online travel agent business with YTB Travel. The more people members signed up, the more they made. Brown called YTB Travel a gigantic pyramid scheme. The California Attorney General sued YTB Travel Network for $25 million on behalf of those who said they were scam victims in California.
