I wanted to love the Milvus but I'm disappointed. Both at Zeiss for stating things that are not true under normal/average life/photography conditions, and at the reviewers. The photo in which the strong problems occur, is your average "afternoon suburban visit", nothing extreme. Modern cameras, even pocket cameras, have no problem with that scene. Zeiss is not truthful in its description, and I think reviewer's aren't either, maybe they should try a similar scene (and not scenes carefully chosen and/or post-corrected with masks etc). This is the first time I'm disappointed with Zeiss. Until I re-try the other model (the f/2), I'll say that at that range the Voigtlander (which also has strong fringes) and the Nikon 1.8D (no fringing issues at all) remain the best offerings in the normal range for Nikon (considering portability, size/weight, support, durability etc). Quite disappointing, considering the strong lines of 50mm lenses for other camera brands.
