Zeros - "Little Latin Lupe Lu" Philly Debut, 10-27-10

More of the Zeros, in their belated Philadelphia debut, Oct. 27, 2010, @ the M-Room, Girard Ave., Fishtown (34 years after their '76 formation in Chula Vista, [So. S.D. Co.], CA). Among 1st West Coast "punk rock" bands, playing earliest punker shows in SD, LA and SF as teens, etc. Here they do oldie "Little Latin ..." (written by Bill Medley, '63 - Righteous Bros.' 1st single). Frontman Javier Ecovedo's bro Mario (Dragons) on rhythm gtr, filling in for original member Robert "El Vez" Lopez (busy in Seattle hosting Teatro ZinZanni this Halloween wknd). Baba Chenelle trims the skins; Hector Penalosa makes like Macca on lefty bass. Video is way grainy/dark (brighten/adjust as able) but sound is worth it - and not many live clips of Zeros doing this out there. (But of many versions, who's best? R.B. original? Kingsmen? Mitch Ryder? Early Bruce/recent Bruce? I dig all-gal Texas teen '60s garage-lettes the Heart Beats (one of many great things from TX, don't be fooled, tho I'm steadfastly against the Rangers). Howev, when I finally hear the mid '60s take by Billy Preston and Sly Stone - yes, Sly produced - yep, might have new fave.
