Displaced families were seen seeking shelter in a Kabul park on Wednesday amid Taliban advances across the country.

“Heavy clashes broke out and we were hostage of these clashes, we were hostages of fighting that went on for about six or seven days”, said one of the camp’s residents.

“We couldn’t go outside of our house; we couldn’t even make a glass of tea to drink. There were a lot of problems and we could not take anything, we escaped in difficulty and we are displaced”, she added.

The Taliban have been making substantial territorial gains ahead of the complete US troops withdrawal scheduled for August 31, with nine provincial capitals seized within the last six days.
