Afghanistan: Domestic flights resume at Kabul airport

Domestic flights from Aryana Airlines and Kam Air could be seen arriving and departing from Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on Sunday.
Domestic flights from other regions in Afghanistan and a few from Qatar, the UAE, and Bahrain landed at Kabul airport on Sunday. International flights departing from the airport are still currently unavailable.
The Taliban took control of Hamid Karzai International Airport on Wednesday following the final departure of US personnel and their allies.
Local airport authorities report the entire airport was left destroyed by the US and NATO partners.

SOT, Mawlawi Abdul Hadi Hamdan, Head of Kabul International Airport (Pashto): “The Kabul airport is now getting back to normal, and because of destruction and technical problems and the civil services foreign flights are not launched yet. The domestic flights relaunch today, also we have already a flight from the Kandahar province, and yesterday we had flights to the Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif too, and some other planes come from abroad such as the Qatar planes, Arabic Islamic Emirate planes, and also Bahrain planes landed today. After this the situation of the airport is getting better, it is normal, no problems.”

SOT, Mawlawi Abdul Hadi Hamdan, Head of Kabul International Airport (Pashto): “This airport was captured by the Taliban five days ago. Some of the media published this footage also, there is no any doubt on it and the whole world knows about that the Americans destroyed materials here. That is not acceptable, They destroyed every sector in the terminals, civilian terminals, and they destroyed planes in military section, the computer system destroyed, they destroyed the biometric system also, some other things which are part of the computer system. Glass, including furniture were destroyed, they didn’t leave any section safe, they left it completely useless.”

SOT, Mawlawi Abdul Hadi Hamdan, Head of Kabul International Airport (Pashto): “My message to foreign countries is that they can cooperate with us in rebuilding, and as soon as possible to resume its foreign flights in the Kabul airport which is an international airport, and to resume civilian services and help us regarding technical problems.”

SOT, Mohammad Nikmal, Engineer (Pashto): 2Yesterday was our first fly that we had been to Herat, I spent night in Herat, and in the morning we get off to the Kandahar and I get some passengers from Kandahar and now I have landed in Kabul, and regarding our daily flights, today we have two flights, one flight to Kandahar and one flight to Herat by God willing.”

SOT, Mohammad Nikmal, Engineer (Pashto): “The foreign flights will be resume also as soon by God willing, and I think in the coming days its first fly will be get off to Delhi, India.”
