Pul-e-Charkhi prison, the largest prison in Afghanistan, located east of Kabul, has been left deserted after Taliban forces freed its prisoners following their takeover of the country.

Taliban have assumed control in Afghanistan as the United States officially concluded its 20-year deployment in the country in August.
