Afghanistan: Locals hold funeral ceremony for victims of Kandahar mosque blast

Footage filmed in Kandahar shows funerals held on Saturday for the casualties of the Kandahar mosque blast a day prior.

“This bad action happened in Kandahar, it may happen tomorrow in Kabul and other provinces, we demand from the Emirate government to pursue these actions seriously,” said a relative of one of the deceased at the funeral.

Reports from local news sources suggest that the victims were buried in mass graves.

Numerous people were killed and injured in explosions in a Shia mosque in South Kandahar during the Friday prayers after reportedly two suicide bombers attacked the mosque. According to local Taliban officials, at least 47 people were killed and 70 injured.

The militia ISIS-K recently claimed responsibility for the attacks through their news agency Amaq.​
