The Taliban Foreign Minister urged the US to show ‘heart’ considering the country’s dire economic situation, speaking at a press conference in Kabul on Tuesday.
Amir Khan Mutaqqi thanked international donors for raising a total of 1.2 billion dollars as emergency help for the country.
It comes as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund and as well the US Central Bank suspended funding for the country quickly after the Taliban takeover.
“America is a big country, they need to have a big heart”, said Mutaqqi, adding that the US should appreciate their collaboration during the American withdrawal and evacuation efforts.
Mutaqqi continued saying that the new government wishes to have good diplomatic relationships with the global community.
Due to the lasting drought and the COVID-19 pandemic, people in Afghanistan have been suffering from food insecurity before the Taliban seized power.
The currently limited access to cash after the takeover will intensify these effects, according to the world Food Program (WFP).

SOT, Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Taliban Foreign Minister (Dari): “And also assure those people who come to Afghanistan illegally by the passport and visas that there is not any security threat for them, so everyone could do their jobs in any sections and the Islamic Emirate will make facilities, and the aid of 1 billion dollars which has been issued in the Geneva convention, we are going to thank them and we demand to ongoing aid.”

SOT, Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Taliban Foreign Minister (Dari): “Our vote and suggestion is that America is a big country, they need to have a big heart, and shouldn’t be cruel to a poor country like Afghanistan, we demand a positive communication with the globe, we want all kind of communication, we want good relations, and also, we demand from them that they don’t put Afghans under high pressure, the war and pressure policy has not given a good result for 20 years and could not give us results after this.”

SOT, Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Taliban Foreign Minister (Dari): “As the United State of America’s last soldiers who was leaving the Kabul airport, so the Islamic Emirate did this collaborate that made facilities for them and fulfilled its promised successfully to give them way until they could leave the country.”

SOT, Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Taliban Foreign Minister (Dari): “But unfortunately, instead of appreciating our collaborations, the United States of America banned the profits of Afghan nation, and destroyed it.”

SOT, Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Taliban Foreign Minister (Dari): “Our demand is that Afghanistan in the past four decades remained backwards and suffered a lot of problems, it has been destroyed, it has been bombarded, mortars were landed and faced a different kind of crisis, we demand help for us in other sections of Afghanistan also especially in those which are very needy.”

SOT, Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Taliban Foreign Minister (Dari): “The stability in Afghanistan, the security in Afghanistan, peace in Afghanistan, it is beneficial for any edges of the country, it is beneficial for the whole world, but if there must be restrictions, pressures and threats in Afghanistan, so those people could take its benefits who are not useful for Afghanistan and not even to the world.”
