Nearly 300 women gathered at a lecture hall of the Kabul university wearing burqas and waving Taliban flags in support of the movement on Saturday.

It happened after they marched through the streets of the Afghan capital escorted by Taliban fighters.

The display of support for the Taliban came after several demonstrations in Kabul and other cities earlier in the week have called for women’s participation in the government and their right to education and work.

Taliban fighters had tried to disperse protesters during those demonstrations, often led by women, using force and violence.

SOT, Taliban supporter (Dari): “We want from the Islamic Emirate to ensure all rights of the women. Access to knowledge, work, and health must be stated in their priority and they must focus on these issues.”

SOT, Taliban supporter (Pashto): “Some people think we lost a lot of things after America left Afghanistan, such as money, air forces, human rights, women’s freedom, freedom of the press and diplomatic relationships. However, this is not the case if you look at it clearly.”
