Afghanistan: Taliban fighters seen in Kabul streets

The Taliban fighters were spotted in Kabul streets, with one of the fighters standing on the US military Humvee, Sunday.

The Taliban swept into the capital following the collapse of the government and country’s President Ashraf Ghani abandoning the presidential palace, which was then taken by the Taliban fighters, and leaving the country.

On the same day planes and helicopters were seen flying over Kabul as the US and allies raced to evacuate foreign diplomats following the Taliban’s advancement. The Taliban offensive follows the US and other NATO forces’ ongoing withdrawal.
