‘Alleged Salman Rushdie Attacker Pleads NOT GUILTY’

The man accused of attacking author Salman Rushdie has pleaded not guilty to assault and attempted murder.

Salman Rushdie was stabbed 12 times in the face, neck and torso in front of a shocked audience, moments before he was due to give a speech at New York’s Chautauqua Institute.

In court, prosecutors alleged the 24-year-old from New Jersey carried out a premeditated and targeted attack, purchasing a pass to allow him to attend Mr Rushdie’s talk.
