The half-empty shelves of supermarkets in Buenos Aires were seen on Wednesday as a result of the increase in cases of COVID-19 of the Omicron variant causing a series of interruptions in the supply chain.
Several sectors of the supermarket can be seen with a lower number of products and even several shelves completely empty.
“[Missing] a lot of dairy products, jams, oils, condiments, sausage,” said Christina, a supermarket customer.
“I asked and what they explained to me is that because of the coronavirus there are shortages because there are things that are not being delivered,” commented Silvia, another customer.
According to figures from the Ministry of Health of Argentina, on Wednesday there were 88,503 new cases of COVID-19, and 317 people died from the virus.
