Austria has just announced a nationwide 10-day lockdown and plans for mandatory vaccination from February 1.

The Central European nation is currently experiencing a huge spike of new COVID cases.

Infection numbers are especially high in the counties of Upper Austria and Salzburg.

Salzburg governor Wilfried Haslauer urged the public to get the jab sooner rather than later.
