Austria: Thousands protest COVID restrix, vaccine mandate in Vienna

Thousands of protesters rallied outside the Weltmuseum Wien, Vienna, on Saturday, in protest of national COVID-19 restrictions and mandatory vaccines.

Crowds of people held signs calling for freedom against the vaccine mandate, whilst a stage was set up for musicians and speakers.

Police vehicles could be seen arriving to the rally with digital signs ordering demonstrators to disperse, whilst similar instructions were given over a microphone.

In November, Austria became the first country in western Europe to reimpose a full coronavirus lockdown and demand its whole population to get vaccinated as of February, in a bid to bring down high levels of infection and hospitalisation.
