Anti-government protesters have clashed with police in central Beirut over the blast that killed at least 130.

Officials say the explosion was caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, unsafely stored since 2013.

Demonstrators have accused the government and the country’s political elite of mismanagement and corruption.

Tensions have escalated since Tuesday’s devastating incident that reportedly injured 5,000 people, reducing entire districts in the capital to rubble.

The explosion has badly affected Lebanon’s already struggling economy.
