Belarusian athlete Tsimanouskaya granted visa by Poland to seek asylum

Poland has granted Belarusian athlete Krystsina Tsimanouskaya a humanitarian visa which will enable her to travel to Poland to seek asylum.

The decision comes just hours after Tsimanouskaya refused to board a flight to Belarus out of Japan. Tsimanouskaya released a video pleading with the International Olympic Committee to help her seek political asylum.

Meanwhile, representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus said that Tsimanouskaya was going to leave the Olympics because of her “emotional and psychological state.”
