On Friday night, police were called to a complaint as a man that fell asleep in a vehicle was blocking the entrance to a fast food restaurant in Atlanta.

27-year-old Rayshard Brooks failed a field sobriety test and when the officers tried to arrest him, the man tried to fight back and at one point he managed to take a Taser away from one of them.

During a short foot chase, Brooks points the Taser at an Atlanta officer, who retrieved his weapon and shot him.

Next day, protesters came down the streets, blocking traffic and setting the restaurant on fire.

Georgia’s Bureau of Investigation has opened an inquiry into the shooting.

Following the killing, the officer who shot Brooks was fired, and the Atlanta Police Chief resigned.

The shooting came at a time of worldwide protests over police brutality following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
