LYRICS to BLEW IT AGAIN
In the mornin’ you go gunnin’ for the ones who tout injection
And you claim they’re stupid libbruls, though you start to fear infection
And your friends are catching Covid, coming back from their church service
And you all are down in Florida, so you’re starting to get nervous, yeah
You backtrack, Jack, think once again, head spinning ‘round and round,
You go back, Jack, think once again . . .
First you say there is no virus, then you find your only friend
Tells the boss, who comes to fire us, since he’s scared how this might end
So you say you’ll wear a mask if there is one that you can borrow
He says sure, he’s got a spare one, but you lose your job tomorrow, yeah
You backtrack, Jack, think once again, head spinning’ round and round,
You go back, Jack, think once again . . .
Now you swear despite your wheezing, you don’t have Covid nineteen
You can’t breathe and feel you’re freezing, still you “feel the best you’ve been”
You refused that vaccination, though to you it’s free of cost
Now you’re booked for intubation, ‘cause your cause is almost lost, yeah
You backtrack, Jack, think once again, room spinning’ round and round,
You go back, Jack, think once again . . .
ABOUT THE SOURCE MUSIC
"Do It Again" is a song composed by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, performed by American rock group Steely Dan, which was released as a single from their 1972 debut album Can't Buy a Thrill. The single version differed from the album version, shortening the intro and outro and omitting the organ solo.
Released in 1972, the song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 18, 1972, and reached number 6 on the US charts in 1973, making it Steely Dan's second highest-charting single.
"Do It Again" features an electric sitar solo by Denny Dias. The "plastic organ" solo by Donald Fagen was performed on a Yamaha YC-30 with a sliding pitch-bending control.
David Palmer fronted the band during their live show, and sang "Do It Again" when the group played The Midnight Special in February 1973. Donald Fagen sang the vocal on the album version.
