Several locals voiced their concerns about the severe drought conditions affecting the city of Valinhos, outside Sao Paolo, on Monday.

“We have water restrictions, so big that the city council established fines for people who wash cars in the streets. We have to avoid those things; we cannot waste water,” said Daniel, a resident of Valinhos.

The water shortage caused by the drought also worries residents for its significant implications on health.
