Canada: Toronto protesters slam arrests after police clear out encampment

At least 26 protesters were arrested in Toronto on Wednesday after a rally against the eviction of an encampment turned intense.

Hundreds of residents took to the streets after police forcibly evicted the citizens living at Lamport Stadium Park and Alexandra Park.

Protesters were seen facing off with the agents and continued the rally at a police station to protest what they defined were illegal arrests.

City authorities claim that the illegal encampments were ‘unsafe’ amid the pandemic, however, the human rights activists condemned the action saying most of the camp residents have nowhere to go.
