Communities in Shijiazhuang have been placed under lockdown after 26 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the metropolitan area, as seen at Hengdayujing Peninsula community on Thursday.
The residential community’s front gate appeared closed with security guarding the entrance, after residents were reportedly instructed not to leave the area the day prior.
According to local authorities, 14 coronavirus cases were reported in Shijiazhuang on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 26.
Later that day, the capital activated its emergency response coronavirus-prevention mechanism, implementing measures to control the entry and exit points of the metropolitan area’s Shenze county and Jinzhou city.
On October 31, a notice had been issued to all residents of Shenze county to stay inside and take COVID-19 tests.

SOT, Resident of Hengdayujing Peninsula community (Mandarin): “I made some orders online for food delivery, but realised the shop inside our community has everything.”
