Customers were seen waiting in long queues outside the largest official souvenir shop for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics on Thursday, one day before the start of the Games in the Chinese capital.
The average waiting time to get into the shop, which sells pins, fluffy toys, mascot related products and other Olympic merchandise, was around 30 minutes, as only 20 people can be in the shop at one time amid COVID-19 restrictions.
Members of the public have not been allocated tickets for this year’s games amid COVID-19 fears. Locals are only able to view the venues from outside of the ‘closed-loop,’ an area specifically designated for officials, athletes and special guests.
