China: Shanghai Disneyland park shut down as Typhoon Chanthu approaches

Disneyland Park in Shanghai closed its facilities for the public on Monday following the government’s safety recommendations due to the approaching Typhoon Chanthu.
It is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains in the next two days.
Authorities have ordered flights to be canceled, outdoor tourist sites closed and children sent home from school in anticipation of the typhoon making a landfall.

“Our family took a plane from Tianjin to Shanghai Disneyland Park yesterday, we initially planned to stay a few days at Disneyland. Before we came here, the weather forecast said it was moderate to heavy rain. However, this morning I was told the whole resort is closed due to a typhoon, even Disneytown is shut down.”

SOT, Mrs. Ding, Visitor from Tianjin, (Mandarin): “We took a few days off from school to bring my granddaughter here to visit. We didn’t expect to encounter such situations, but it’s ok, safety comes first.”

“Yesterday we received a notice stating that a typhoon will come in the next two days, so we have taken precautions.”
