Coronavirus cases in the US have risen to more than 40,000 per day.

It’s the fourth time in the past five days researchers have seen these worryingly high case numbers.

Researcher Dr Anthony Fauci has warned the number could dramatically increase up to 100,000 per day.

Florida, Arizona, Texas and California are the four states referenced by Dr Fauci as being most heavily hit currently.

Officials are trying to challenge the notion, as suggested by Trump, that masks are a political statement and urge people to ‘save lives’ by wearing them.
