‘Cyclone Tauktae Brings Death and Destruction to Covid-Struck India’

As it grapples with a deadly second wave of coronavirus, western India is bracing for the country’s worst storm in decades.

Cyclone Tauktae has already destroyed buildings and cut off electricity in the southern states of Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa, and lashed Mumbai with heavy rains and strong winds.

It’s expected to make landfall on Monday evening in Gujarat, with winds expected reach speeds of up to 160km/h.

Hundreds of thousands of Indians living in low-lying areas have already been evacuated to temporary shelters, prompting concerns of fresh outbreaks of Covid-19.
