Two Diamond bracelets owned by Marie Antionette are currently being displayed at Christie’s showroom in Beijing and are to be auctioned off in Geneva on November 9.
The bracelets are covered with 112 diamonds, ranging from one to 4.5 carats each. They will be sold together and could fetch between€1.7 to 3.4 million ($2-4 million),but are expected to go for even more.
They are still in their original box with handwritten labels and inventory references by the queen’s descendants.
Jewellery specialist Caroline Liang said on Tuesday that she thinks the bracelets ‘will bring a lot of attention” especially amongst Asian buyers.
The bracelets were passed on to Marie Antoinette’s only surviving daughter, Marie Therese of France, known as Madame Royale, who in turn left them to her nieces and nephews.
Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France before the French Revolution, died in Paris in 1793.
