Dramatic Rescues As Millions in China Face Devastating Floods

Over 35 million people in southern China have been affected by torrential downpours, with more rain expected in the coming days.

Footage has emerged of dramatic rescues in the southwestern Guangxi province, where the Long River rose to more than five metres above warning levels.

According to local media, so far over 140 people have died or are missing.

As downpours continue to wreak havoc across many regions, China has raised its response alert to the second highest level.

The Chinese government has allocated around $44.2m to help the regions hit by the floods.
