Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police office who knelt on George Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes as he begged for air, has been found guilty on two counts of murder and one of manslaughter.

Widely circulated footage showed four police officers restraining George Floyd as he lay prone on the pavement after being arrested for allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill at a grocery store.

His death, as onlookers called out for help, sparked international outrage and revitalised the Black Lives Matter movement, calling for justice for police shootings of black people.
