Eternal loyalty - Faithful dog keeps owner company in Argentine cemetery

A dog has been refusing to leave a gravestone reportedly belonging to his deceased owner for three years, as seen on Monday in Argentina’s Rio Negro province.

Though heartbreaking to see the animal grieve, gravediggers and guests enjoy the dog’s presence, having named him Bobby. He could repeatedly be seen returning to the cemetery where workers petted him.

“He is already part of us who are working here, of the people who come to visit their relatives here at the cemetery,” said Daniel Cisterna, a gravedigger.

The gravedigger Daniel Cisterna looked after Bobby’s wellbeing as he had never seen any kind of companionship like this before.

SOT, Daniel Cisterna, Gravedigger (Spanish): “Bobby has been here for three years already. A relative of the deceased came looking for him. They loaded him into a truck and at the corner he set himself lose, and he came back. You can see that he wants to be with his owner always, until after death, he wants to be with his owner, that’s why he is here.”

SOT, Daniel Cisterna, Gravedigger (Spanish): “I could not believe what I was seeing, that an animal that has no evil and does nothing, lived all its life with its owner and when its owner died, the little animal came to accompany him and still, he stayed here keeping his owner company. I am very excited because it is something I have never seen.”

SOT, Daniel Cisterna, Gravedigger (Spanish): “When we tell the story of Bobby, people get very excited and many tell you, “The more I know about animals, the less I love people.”

SOT, Daniel Cisterna, Gravedigger (Spanish): “And he is already part of us who are working here, of the people who come to visit their relatives here at the cemetery, he walks with me to do the tours, he accompanies me to do the tours.”
